FEILDING DAIRY FARM
“OVER THE YEARS I’VE TRIED 5 DIFFERENT KINDS OF LIQUID, BUT ONLY PLASMA GAVE ME THE RESULTS I WAS LOOKING FOR”
We were doing around 336 kgs milk solids per cow, and no matter what we did, we couldn’t get them over 340 kgs milk solids. When I was at the Fieldays in Hamilton, I got talking to a guy on the Plasma stand, Mike – he was a farmer from Northland. What he said appealed to me, so I thought I’d give it a go.
We trialled Plasma on quarters of the farm, and we had a response in production from the cows every time they came down the quarters – the vat levels went up and so did the fat and protein. The following year we put it over the whole farm.
The first year we applied Plasma to the whole farm we got up to an average of 378 kgs milk solids per cow. The year after they were up to 408 kgs milk solids per cow. Cows are farmed on a grass diet only with a bit of silage February and March, no meal or palm kernel. Production is 1250 kgs milk solids/ha.
The Plasma is used in conjunction with very much reduced applications of solid fertiliser. Over the years I’ve tried 5 different kinds of liquid – but only the Plasma gave me the results I was looking for.

”I’ve been growing for more than 20 years and I’ve tried 5 or 6 other types of liquid fertiliser, but I think Plant Plasma is the best. It stays in the ground and these days I don’t spray for diseases at all.”
Market Gardener, Wairarapa
HOROWHENUA DEER FARM
“USUALLY OUR “FAWNS ON THE GROUND” AT WEANING IS 94%. THIS YEAR WE HAVE 97% ON THE GROUND.”
Principal farming operation is velvet stags with replacements being bred on farm.
Our deer are farmed on pastures where Plant Plasma fertiliser is the only fertiliser used. This has been so for the last 6.5 years on the present farm.
The prior 10 years on our previous farm was the same, so our deer have been grazed only on Plant Plasma pastures for more than 16 years.
Not only has the land and pasture improved significantly but so has the stock production.
The stocking rate is a minimum of 21.5 Su/Ha.
Baleage is made, and cattle are brought in to remove surplus grass and maintain grass quality.
The fawns are always drenched with Megimmune at weaning and a couple of other times 6 weeks apart when necessary. Any hinds that are a bit thin at weaning are dosed with Megimmune at that stage as well.
Usually our “fawns on the ground” at weaning is 94%. This year we have 97% on the ground.

”We’re in the middle of our worst drought ever right now, yet our stock levels are up on last year. We’re going to stick with Plasma.”
